Thanks for the thorough review, Chris! Your overall in depth analysis is spot on. Hope you enjoy Sapphire Moon just as much. They’ll be old friends, new friends, and enemies around every corner.
From left to right, shout outs to Mr. Remer, Gramps, Splenda, Vivian, Karma, Nina, Akane, and Han!!
Thanks Jamie for the article on Sapphire Moon! Between you and me, I still shoot at aliens with my fingers lol!

Had a great time last night at Sahuaro Elementary School. The Spring Fling event was a major success and was a ton of fun! Students got to make magic wands, get inked in some awesome temporary tats (my favorite was the Batman symbol), and acquire a set amount of stamps from different booths in order to receive a copy of a free book from the school’s library. Special thanks to Principal Menedez for having me out and allowing me the chance to meet several awesome young readers and aspiring writers! 🙂
I’m ecstatic to say that after the long and grueling writing process (jk it’s always fun and ‘write’ up my alley 🙂 ), my newest book, Sapphire Moon, is now published and available in paperback and kindle on Amazon.com!
I would like to thank all of my readers, family, and friends, for all the continued support! As I’ve mentioned before, this book is next in line to my ninja-novel trilogy and follows Karma in her adventures as a shinboi in training as she investigates a secret society of weapon manufacturers.
As a bonus, there’s an updated edition of my first story, Violet Star with a new cover that’s available as well! I’m excited to finally share my work, and of course, I will continue with my thousands of other projects I wish to bring to life.
If you’re interested in continuing your much appreciated support, reviews and ratings help out a ton!

Had a blast at Changing Hands Bookstore’s Author Appreciation Night. About three months ago, they held a writing event hosted by Southwest Human Development. Their plan is to select a children’s book manuscript from a participant to be professionally illustrated and published. The book will also be distributed to to at least 2,000 children though 40 different programs and services that support young children and their families!
The reading age for children is getting younger and younger each year. It makes me glad that the next generation will have a new book waiting for them in the 0-6yr old age range. I’m looking forward to reading the winner’s published work early next year.
The speakers made excellent points about writing for this age group. First and foremost, stories for young children must be fun! Morals are always great, but don’t pound your readers over the head with them. Always keep your readers in mind and read popular stories geared towards the audience and age group you’re writing for!
I had a lot of fun going to the event, and meeting new people, authors, teachers, and friends. Looking forward to their next event! 🙂
**Winner of part one of the first Violet Star Art Contest is Nikki M.! The contest was to cosplay as one of the characters from the Karma Chronicles. Nikki sported her best stylish ninja gi and rocked Karma’s trademark violet bang. Talk about one fierce-looking ninja! She really captured the perfect balance of Karma’s playful, yet deadly attitude!. Congrats, Nikki! You make the Ninja Clan proud. Your Amazon gift card and signed copy of Violet Star should already be in the mail and reaching you soon.**
Winner of the first Violet Star Art Contest is “T. Rex” Davidson! The theme for this contest was “Battle”. T. Rex drew and inked a comic strip depicting Karma battling against a tough and brute thug in the underbellies of Blyton City. I have to say, I’m a fan of the dynamic poses and color palate. Congratulations T. Rex! You make the Ninja Clan very proud. Your Amazon gift card and signed copy of Violet Star should already be in the mail and reaching you soon.
Keep posted for future challenges and contests, Ninjas!
Hey guys, there are new links on the website’s menu to some of my short stories and poetry. The pages just went up today and there will be a lot more content on both as I continue to update them. For now, most are from my earlier work. They can get pretty dark at times, so if you’re into that, be sure to give them a read! 😉
Hey Ninjas! It’s time for the very first Karma Chronicles Contest! Actually, the first TWO Contests! There’s two different challenges I conjured up.
The first challenge will be to cosplay as one of the following five characters in Violet Star. For those that don’t know what cosplay is, it means to dress up and take on the persona of a character.
Here are the characters you can select:
- Can be either Karma in her ninja attire or dressed casually
- Gotta have her signature violet bang!
- Katana or shuriken is a bonus
- Free range with Han, but it’s practically an automatic win if you somehow get his flaming katana in the pic!
- Rock her black hair and red highlights. And know that you’re better than other ninjas.
- Show me your best shark mutation and get a craving for human flesh.
- Armor up and make everyone hate you.
- Bonus points go to any groups dressed as multiple characters. Oh, and poses count!
- If you decide to go for a group shot, costumes have to be spot on. If someone can pull off the “Three Musketeers” of the story, then boom! You’ll be in like Flynn!
The other event is a character drawing contest. Let’s see your best art skills! The theme for this contest is called “Battle”. Show me at least two Violet Star characters going at it in an epic showdown in any art style for a chance to win!
So, what are the prizes, you ask?
First place for the Cosplay Challenge receives a $50 gift card to Amazon and a signed copy of Violet Star. In the event that a group wins, each member will be awarded a $50 gift card for Amazon.
I’ll arrange something for any runner-ups and honorable mentions too!
First place for the Battling Character Art Contest is a $25 Amazon gift card and a bookmark.
You can submit your pictures and digital files in the Form Submission, or email them as an attachment to jolivermadison(at)gmail.com. Also, feel free to email me with any questions.
(Substitute ‘@’ for ‘(at)’.)
Make sure your files are a decent size. Basically, I don’t want them to come in blurry 🙁
The deadline for entering into the contest will be July 31st 2015. Please make sure you include contact information for a chance to win your prize. I look forward to seeing your submissions! Make sure to be creative, and most importantly, have fun! Godspeed, Ninjas! 🙂
